The Port Bar – The Bay Area’s Best New Gay Bar

Earlier this year we showcased the opening of Oakland’s latest gay nightlife hotspot – The Port Bar. Couple Sean Sullivan, The Port Bar’s co-founder and General Director, and Richard Fuentes, co-founder and Vice President, had witnessed a void in the otherwise diverse LGBTQ community in Oakland; there was no seven day a week gathering place for the gay community. So, they set out to create such a venue, and The Port Bar was born.

Conveniently located across the street from the 20th Street exit of the 19th Street BART stop – The Port Bar is a thriving hotspot in Oakland, bringing the best of both sides of the bay together. “We like to think of The Port Bar as Oakland‘s LGBTQ Center, but with alcohol,” said co-founder Fuentes in a recent interview with Gloss Magazine.
